Neutral Mental Health Professional (NMHP)

The certified Neutral Mental Health Professional (NMHP) serves as a process facilitator and communication coach in the Collaborative Divorce process to ensure that meetings run smoothly and that the group is progressing toward completing their case collaboratively. The NMHP's role is to assist clients in developing and focusing on what goals and interests they would like to have satisfied as they move through their Collaborative Divorce. The NMHP also collaborates with the clients outside the joint meetings, helping clients to reach agreements on child-related or other specific issues. The NMHP can also help parents with questions such as how to tell their children and other family members and friends about the divorce. A significant role of the NMHP is to help the parents create a parenting plan for making decisions and spending time with their children after the divorce is completed.
