Kym earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University and her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology, from the University of South Florida. Kym completed her internship at an inpatient psychiatric hospital and then worked in community-based mental health as well as Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care prior to joining The Costello Center.

Kym has a great deal of training and experience in working with childhood trauma, ADHD, and high-functioning Autism (she is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist).

While Kym practices with an emphasis on Reality Therapy, she utilizes an integrative approach, frequently utilizing therapeutic art and therapeutic play activities to help children and teens naturally engage in the therapeutic process. Kym is passionate about helping her clients make the changes they desire to make and overcome the challenges and obstacles in their lives. She believes that the most important component of counseling is the therapeutic relationship; therefore, she meets her clients where they are and work at a pace with which they are most comfortable.

Kym is truly dedicated to ensuring a positive experience for each individual and family she works with.

 

Prior to pursuing her career in Marriage & Family Therapy, Kym was an Elementary School Teacher. Kym truly loves working with children and teens and is dedicated to ensuring a positive experience for each individual she works with.
