Shawn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who earned his Bachelor of Social Work (BSM) and Master of Social Work (MSW) from The University of South Florida. Shawn has over 15 years of military service experience with deployments to Bosnia, Kosovo, and a homeland security mission in Washington, DC. As a veteran himself, Shawn has a passion for working with veterans. Throughout his educational career path and training he has had the experience of working in veteran outreach, veteran treatment court, working with the elderly population and a substance treatment residential program. His areas of expertise include treating of anxiety, depression, loss and grief, and substance use with co-occurring mental health issues using a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach. Shawn strongly feels that substance use affects the whole family, therefore he devotes time to helping family members attend to their own health and healing by equipping them with the proper tools to establish communication and appropriate boundary setting skills, as well as providing psychoeducation on addiction and co-occurring disorders.
